About

Welcome to African Spice Academy

At African Spice Academy, our mission is simple: empower youth, preserve tradition, and strengthen communities — all through the joy of cooking.

We provide hands-on African cooking classes where young people learn to prepare authentic dishes and earn a certificate for each dish mastered. This approach not only builds valuable culinary skills but also fosters confidence, cultural pride, and opportunities for the future.

Our belief is that food is a powerful connector — it brings people together, breaks down barriers, and creates shared experiences. By training and certifying the next generation of cooks, we are investing in stronger, more connected communities, one plate at a time.

What We Offer:

●  Authentic African recipes taught step-by-step
●  Certification for every dish completed
●  A welcoming space for youth to learn, share, and grow
●  Community events that celebrate food and culture

At African Spice Academy, every class is more than a recipe — it’s a step toward building unity and opportunity through the flavors of Africa.

About Us

Our Story

August – A Taste of Summer
This August, African Spice Academy is celebrating the vibrant flavors of summer. Our kitchens are alive with the aroma of fresh herbs, seasonal vegetables, and iconic African spice blends. Students are exploring recipes like suya skewers, light coconut stews, and fragrant rice dishes—perfect for summer gatherings. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced cook, our August classes are all about learning new skills, sharing laughs, and enjoying the rich diversity of African cuisine
September – Harvest & Spice
In September, we welcome the harvest season with warmth and creativity. Our “Harvest & Spice” series focuses on pairing fresh, seasonal produce with bold African flavors. From hearty peanut stews to berbere-spiced root vegetables, every class is a journey into tradition and taste. As cooler days arrive, we bring people together around the table, showing how African cooking can comfort, nourish, and connect communities in every season.

Cooking is also often carried out outside of personal quarters, for example at restaurants, or schools. Bakeries were one of the earliest forms of cooking outside the home, and bakeries in the past often offer the cooking of food provided by their customers as an additional service. Now factory food preparation is common.
